Poached Pears
Ingredients
6 cups

water
—
zest and juice of one lemon

bosc pears (or Anjou or Bartlett)
2 tsp
—
vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean
3 cups
—
sugar
Method
Add water to a 4 qt pot
Add lemon zest and juice to water
Scoop seeds out of pears
Peel and add to water as done
Add sugar to water
Simmer for ~20–25 minutes, until tender
Store pears covered in syrup in the fridge
Serve
Serve with chocolate sauce and/or ice cream
