Butter Tart

Ingredients

1 Tart Crust
¼ cup unsalted butter
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
½ cup maple syrup
¼ tsp kosher salt
⅛ tsp nutmeg
⅛ tsp cinnamon
rum
1 shake cayenne?
1 splash vanilla extract?
orange/lemon/vinegar?

Method

Prep

  • Make the crust and blind bake
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil

Make the tarts

  • In a medium mixing bowl
  • Cream the butter and sugar
  • Whisk in the egg
  • Whisk in the syrup and flavorings until smooth
  • Place tart pans on the baking sheet
  • Add filling to tart shells until almost full
  • Bake at 425°F for 13–15 minutes
